Find and Fix the Source of the Leak.

Water does not always appear directly below where it enters the roof. It can travel along decking, rafters, insulation, and other roofing materials before becoming visible inside the home.

Common causes of roof leaks include:

A small leak can eventually lead to damaged decking, insulation, ceilings, walls, and other water damage. Localized problems can often be handled with roof repairs or shingle replacement when the surrounding roof is still in good condition. If leaks keep returning or damage is widespread, roof replacement may make more sense.

I had a great experience with HomeShield Roofing from start to finish. We needed to replace one entire side of our roof due to ongoing leaking issues from previous solar panel penetrations, and I spoke with several roofing companies and received multiple quotes before making a decision. Tim was excellent to work with throughout the entire process. He was responsive, knowledgeable, straightforward, and very diligent about answering my questions and making sure I understood exactly what was included. HomeShield was also willing to work with me on the pricing, and I felt very comfortable with both the materials they were using and their 15-year workmanship warranty. The crew showed up as scheduled, completed the entire job in one day, and did everything they said they were going to do. They removed the old roofing, addressed the underlying areas as needed, installed the new roofing system, and left everything clean when they were finished. After dealing with this roof leaking for quite some time, it was refreshing to have a company come in, do exactly what they promised, and make the entire process easy. All in all, a great experience. I would absolutely recommend HomeShield Roofing, and especially Tim, to anyone looking for a roofing company in the Orlando/Winter Park area.

I had a great experience with HomeShield Roofing for my roof replacement in Orlando. From the initial estimate through final inspection, their team was professional, responsive, and straightforward. They took the time to explain the roofing system, warranty options, permit process, and any potential additional costs so I could make an informed decision. Their pricing was fair and competitive compared with other local quotes I received, and the scope of work was clear and detailed. The crew protected the property, completed a thorough cleanup, ran magnet sweeps for nails, and conducted a final walk-around to address any concerns. I also appreciated receiving the completed permit/inspection documentation for my records. I would recommend HomeShield Roofing to anyone looking for a professional, communicative, and fairly priced roofing contractor.

Called HomeShield Roofing to patch a hole after we removed an attic fan, and Tim treated a small job like it mattered. We got four bids and theirs stood out for the level of detail, including exact matching shingles and a clear plan for the repair. They came out fast to assess, got us scheduled quick, and were easy to reach the whole way through. Great local family-owned company — highly recommend

It's easy to see why they have a perfect 5 star rating. We were referred by one of our neighbors after a hail storm came through our neighborhood, they are not a "storm chaser" company, they just do a great job and the word gets out. Roofing is a tough business, no one wants to pay for a new roof, it's not a fun purchase. It's a messy, loud job and nothing ever goes perfectly. What I can say is that this is the best roofing company I've ever worked with, are they perfect, no, no one is. The crews worked very hard and did a very good job. When I did my final inspection I had no area's of concern, the craftmanship was great. One thing that stood out to me was the cleanup, each day the crew cleaned up thoroughly. It was very easy to get ahold of the owner, even after hours. Our roof is a metal roof so I hope to not have to put another roof on this house, but if I did, they would be first call.

It was a great experience working with Tim on the replacement of the roof on my property. My roof was old and my insurance company had dropped my coverage, so I was under a lot of pressure to get a new roof completed quickly in order to secure new insurance. Tim completely understood the urgency. He was professional, responsive, and easy to communicate with. He made things happen quickly and smoothly, completed everything as promised, and helped me get the roof finished in time so I could get my insurance coverage back in place. That was extremely important to me. Excellent quality of the work. Very happy with the entire experience and would absolutely recommend Tim to anyone looking for a reliable, professional, and efficient roofing contractor. Thank you, Tim and the crew!

Frequently Asked Questions About Roof Repair in Orlando

HomeShield Roofing, LLC provides clear answers to common roofing questions in Orlando, FL. Learn what to expect and how to make the right decision for your property.
How do I know whether I need roof repair or roof replacement?

Localized issues such as missing shingles, flashing problems, or a small roof leak can often be repaired. Replacement may make more sense when damage is widespread, repairs keep returning, or the roofing system is significantly deteriorated.
Common warning signs include missing or damaged shingles, ceiling stains, damp insulation, visible flashing problems, recurring leaks, and unusual wear after severe weather.
A practical schedule is about twice a year, along with additional inspections after major storms. Regular roof checks can help catch minor problems before they turn into more expensive repairs.
Strong sun can gradually age asphalt shingles, while high humidity can contribute to algae growth and moisture-related deterioration. Proper attic ventilation can also help reduce heat and moisture buildup beneath the roof.
Yes. When gutters are blocked, water can back up near the roof edge and contribute to moisture problems around fascia, soffits, and roofing materials.
Yes. Roofing work must follow applicable Florida building requirements, including provisions related to wind resistance, fastening, and hurricane-related performance.
Metal roofing generally requires less routine maintenance than many traditional materials. Asphalt shingles are affordable and easy to repair, while clay and concrete tile can provide long-term durability when damaged tiles are addressed promptly.
Look for proper licensing, insurance, strong local reviews, clear written estimates, and experience with Florida building requirements. A good contractor should explain whether repair or replacement actually makes sense rather than pushing one option.

As soon as practical. Continued water intrusion can damage roof decking, insulation, ceilings, walls, and interior finishes. In Central Florida’s humid climate, lingering moisture can also increase the risk of mold and other moisture-related problems.

Central Florida’s high humidity, intense UV exposure, heavy rain, and storms can gradually weaken shingles, sealants, flashing, and other roofing materials. These conditions can make small roofing problems more likely to turn into leaks over time.

Often, yes. Localized problems involving shingles, flashing, vents, seams, or other roof penetrations can often be repaired when the surrounding roofing system is still in good condition.

Yes. Temporary tarping can help protect an exposed roof area until a permanent repair can be completed. It should be treated as short-term protection rather than a permanent roofing solution.
